23 January Thursday in Alqosh Farm – 7 Managers, Tri-Team, Şakir, Ghassan and Me
It’s the last day of the week. Today, things seem to have settled down in general. Everyone wrote what to do on the board. After making sure of everyone’s activity today, we determined the groups. Then everyone started their work. On the list:
- Pruning of all olive trees
- 1 Compost Turning
- Moving the chickens to their new place (they have been in the crop fields long enough now. We are preparing the crop fields for sowing seeds)
- In the greenhouse, we broke the almond and wild pistachio seeds and put them in water to prepare them for sowing (200 seeds each).
- Also, the floor board at the entrance to the kitchen had collapsed and Rayan repaired it.
- A lot of wood chipping work (we have a lot of pruned olives).
At lunch Shakir came. He had bought the necessities on the list. I had cooked my own lunch today; bulgur with lentils and yogurt. After lunch I explained about seed balls and cover crop, both of which they had never seen before in their lives. I prepared both of them a little just to show them. Then we will seed the places we have identified with these two techniques.
After this session;
- Silverberry seeds were planted in the greenhouse (100 seeds)
- Rayan cut the sunken floor of another area in the caravan.
- Chipping continued.
We gathered around 3:30. Today was Uncle Idrees’ last day. He was starting work on his own field. He won’t be able to continue with us. It was very valuable for everyone to meet him, to work together. He was the oldest of the group but he was much more hardworking and dynamic than anyone else. At the same time, he impressed everyone with his practicality and wisdom. It was a pleasure to work with him. So we bought him a farewell cake, we all cut the cake together, we chatted, we said goodbye. It was a very nice farewell. Then I left the farm with Luqman.

good bay and big love 🙌
