22 January Wednesday in Alqosh Farm – 8 Managers, Tri-Team, Şakir, Ghassan and Me

I walked to the farm today. I only left at 7:30. I thought they would catch me on the way, but when I got to the farm at 8:30 no one was there. Later I found out that Rayan’s car had broken down and they were stranded. Şakir was on his way. After a while Shakir and the managers arrived. Now they were going to the board themselves and dividing the work. This made me happy. I didn’t take pictures of the carpet and the wheat sprouts yesterday, so I took them. We talked about the website in class for a while. Who was able to log in, who had what problems. Then the girls went to feed the chickens. We had ordered soil for the steel, and it arrived with the tractor. Then everyone dispersed to their posts. I was at the computer looking at the website, planning to explain a bit about closing today, and then I went outside to see what was going on;

  • Luqman, Diyar and Abdurrahman were putting the cover on their new greenhouse.
  • Marwan and Uncle Idrees were laying wood chips on the paths between the beds we had agreed on.
  • Shleer and Aya sorted the carrots and chard that Rayan had planted close by and carried them to the beds by the pond.
  • Haliz and Shakir fed the chickens. When that was over, Haliz helped Ahmet water the compost.
  • Today Ahmet wanted to compost by himself. He did not join any group, he got dressed and ready. He rolled up his sleeves for the compost. I congratulated him for such brave moves 🙂

After a while, two professors from the university came to visit us. It turned out that they were the teachers of a few members of our team. We traveled around together for a while. I explained what we were doing and the managers got a little excited. It was this teacher who referred them to Şakir. While we were walking around, Şakir came back. He brought their lunch. While we were having lunch together, Rayan and Mustafa came.

After lunch, we gathered in the classroom and I asked everyone where they were and what they were doing. After we reached an agreement, everyone went back to work. Today’s result:

  • 1 new compost
  • 1 compost turnings
  • 1 chicken tractor was relocated.
  • Portable Greenhouses were completed, trees were arranged in them.
  • Wood chips were poured on the roads in Zone 1 garden.
  • Compacted carrots and chard were relocated.
  • Planted 200 more Castor.
